The Conference will commence on the evening of Wednesday, April 8, with an opening lecture by Helmut Koziol on ‘Rethinking the Law of Loss Allocation’. The programme will continue on Thursday, April 9, with a series of sessions highlighting the most significant recent developments in tort law from across a wide range of European jurisdictions. A Special Session on Friday will revisit the issue of harmonisation of tort law, exploring the contemporary relevance of efforts to achieve greater coherence among the tort law systems in Europe and what lessons the developments during the first quarter of the 21st century may offer in this respect. The Conference will conclude with an Early Career Panel, offering emerging scholars and early career academics the opportunity to present their work at the Conference.
The Conference is hosted by the Institute for European Tort Law (ETL) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Graz. Faculty members and students of REWI Uni Graz are cordially invited by the Institute and co-organizer Barbara Steininger to participate in the Conference free of charge.
